Mise en scene homework

Above you can check your notes on the 5 elements of mise-en-scene we have discussed in the last week.

Homework task

Find the official Scott Pilgrim Vs the World trailer online on YouTube and embed it in the same way you have done for last week's homework.

Screenshot three different images from the trailer and analyse the mise en scene - What information does it tell you about the scene? Or about the characters?

The more detail the better, as some people are trying to get away with one sentence answers! This has NOT gone unnoticed.

2. Copy and paste the html "Embed code" into a new blog post
3. Pick 5 screenshots from the trailer and explain
a) What camera angle is being used?

This is an extreme long shot also known as  an establishing shot. This is used in order to set the scene and show us that Everest is really cold and remote.

Task 3: Propp's character types

Now we have gone through Propp's theory about character types in lesson, we will see whether this theory holds true when it comes to the movies!

You are going to think of a film that you believe has some really good examples of each of Propp's character types.

In a new post you will detail what Propp's character types are and then you will give your example from your chosen film. Try and find a picture to include so we know who you are talking about.

You must include:
  • Hero
  • Villain
  • False hero
  • Helper
  • Donor
  • Princess

Looking forward to see what you come up with!
